CUSTOMER FIRST


How do you condense almost 140 years of business and services into one website? For Kivells, an auctioneering, land and property agency (who also run rural professional services), it was all about putting the customer first.

And that’s something we love at Buzz – getting right into the customer’s head and developing digital solutions that drive results. Here’s how we did it.

IMMERSIVE SIMPLICITY


For big companies with lots of services, creating a sense of simplicity on a website isn’t always easy. Often, years of ‘adding’ results in messy menus, rambling information and a battle between departments for top (homepage) spot.

But the Buzz team knew a smooth customer experience was at the heart of this project, which is why we pulled it back to basics, ready to build from the ground up.

Key features included cutting down the complex menu structure, which proved hard for customer navigation, and giving the website a clean, professional look with well-structured pages for clarity.

By reducing menu items, categorising content into small groups and offering clear call-to-actions, the navigation problem was solved. Meanwhile, our block-based editing system, built on top of OrchardCore, gave the Kivells crew the freedom to create unique and interesting layouts without diving into complex configuration.

Finally, a new calendar feature now gives web users the chance to see upcoming auctions, with the option to switch between both calendar and list views.

WICKED WORKFLOWS

But it wasn’t just about the customer now, right? Behind-the-scenes, Kivells also needed to ensure the website would create more efficient workflows, making life easier for those working on the ground.

For our team, that meant developing back-end solutions to help Kivells get back to doing what they do best. And, with so many departments needing to edit content in different areas, we knew it was important to make sure staff could simply access the content they needed, without the noise.

Now, staff members have their own logins, with access limited to their relevant content areas, creating a smoother internal navigation and the opportunity to solely focus on their own department’s needs.

At the same time, the development gave us the opportunity to integrate the new website with Kivells’ third party property management provider, ensuring that, when properties are updated on the third party system, the website automatically updates, too.

With the launch of the new website, Kivells now offers clients and visitors an immersive online experience, with easy navigation, integrated video, high-quality imagery and greater visibility than ever before. Whether it’s live-streaming auctions online or looking for that perfect property, their business is leading the industry, from the inside and out.
